First Video Shots

This is a cameo shot, this was fairly easy to do
since all you needed was a neutral background.

This is a choker shot, the most difficult part about
it was probably finding the right angle.

This is a close up shot, this was extremely easy in
the sense that you just had to focus on a specific
object and the rest would come into the frame without
needing to move the camera. It also added some
drama/suspense even though the video was basic.

This is a dolly shot, it was difficult trying to
keep the camera steady as I was moving forward.
This resulted in a wobbly/shaky video.

This was an extreme close up shot, because it was filmed on
my phone I think the more I zoomed in, the grainier it got.
The quality could have been better if I had used an actual camera.

This was a follow shot, it was very difficult trying to
keep up with the subject I was following and at
the same time keeping the camera steady. This led
to a very amateur and poorly executed video.

This is a full shot, it was an easy shot to
make since all I needed to capture was
my subject's whole body.

This is a high angle shot, it was a bit tricky finding a higher
place to shoot from and it was hard to zoom in and get the
right angle with an iPhone camera from such a great height.
This resulted in the video looking a bit weird.

This is a low angle shot, it wasn't particularly easy or
difficult to film but it was a bit awkward having
to crouch down and film upwards.

This is a medium shot, it was very easy to film since
I just needed to capture the subject from the knees up.

This is a point of view shot, it was challenging trying to
recreate the feeling of 'looking through someone
else's eyes.' This was because of only being able to use
one hand at the beginning. I tried to make it realistic by
looking around as anyone would when they're
walking normally, but I think it paid off.

This is a reaction shot, it was fairly easy to recreate
although I think I stood too far away.

Why AICE Media Studies?

I am taking this class because I am trying to get my AICE Diploma and was very interested in the techniques that are put into film making. Everyone watches movies and I think this class will help me appreciate what goes on behind the scenes. I expect that it will not be as easy as it looks and I am excited to take on the challenge and learn new things.
